[Writing Exercise] Friend Zone

You’re sad today

You don’t feel the love, but it’s there. She’s there.

Do you remember why you fell in love with her? Can you recall the early days, when she was all you wanted?

It was a lie, wasn’t it? Sure, you liked her, but there was never any real love there, right?

Do you think she knows that? She probably does. She’s not as oblivious as you think. She sees more than you know.

Even if you don’t love her, she loves you. She always has. When you’re not around, she thinks about you. She can’t wait to see you and hang out. Her favorite days are days off. She tries so hard to make them special for you.

It never seems to be enough though. You always act like she has to do more. She’ll do it too, because she loves you.

How can you not know that. Surely, you do know. You’re not an idiot.

She’s not selfish, those tears are for you. She wants to help, but you won’t let her. You refuse to give her any sort of indication that you even want help.

To her, it seems like you just want to be upset.

She’ll keep trying, though. Because she loves you.

Maybe, instead of being a dick, you could just shut the fuck up, and let her help. You won’t though, because you’re so stubborn.

She’s stubborn too, and she’ll keep trying. Maybe one day, you’ll love her back.

Maybe then, you two can finally be together the way she wants.

At the very least, she can hope.
